How to Backup iPhone if You Forgot iCloud Password?



I was trying to backup my iPhone to iCloud, however I haven’t signed in with my iCloud and I forgot iCloud password. I was unable to backup my iPhone. What should I do? Can anybody help?

 

Forgetting Apple ID password or iCloud password is as common as forgetting your bank card password, which is the last thing you ever want to come across. If you are unable to recall your Appled ID or password, you will be in great trouble because they are likely the ID and password for your iCloud, iTunes and Apple Store. If you don’t remember them, you will be locked out of all Apple services. For example, your iPhone won’t backup to iCloud without your loggin in with the iCloud account and password.

 

Yet luckily, you can regain access to Apple services by resetting iCloud password. In general, your Apple ID is the ID for your iCloud account, which means resetting iCloud password is to reset your Apple ID password. And below I will show you how to solve this “forgot iCloud password” problem by using 3 different methods. In doing so, you can proceed on to backup your iPhone.

The following methods are used based on what type of security set for your Apple ID. You should choose the one that suits you best.



Method 1: Use Email, password, and security questions

1 First you should open your Apple ID account page and click "Forgot Apple ID or password". If your are asked to confirm your phone number, you should jump to the two-factor authentication method.

2 Enter your Apple ID. 

3 Select the option to reset your password, then choose Continue.

4 Choose a way to reset your password from below:

# To get email verification, select "Get an email." Once you receive the email, open it and follow the instructions.

# If you are asked for a Recovery Key, jump to two-step verification method.

# To answer your security questions, select "Answer security questions" and follow the rest of the steps.

 

Once you finish resetting your password, you will need to go back to sign in again with your new password. And you’d better update the password in Settings on your devices.

Method 2: Use Apple’s Two-step Verification

If you forgot iCloud password, two-step verification should be a good choice to reset it. If you had set it up for your account, you can use it if you forgot Apple ID password. Here’s how it works:

1 Open your Apple ID account page and click "Forgot Apple ID or password." If you are asked to confirm your phone number, jump to two-factor authentication.

2 Input your Apple ID and select the option to reset your password > Continue. 

3 Input your Recovery Key for two-step verification.

4 Choose a trusted device and you will receive a verification code from Apple.

5 Input the verification code.

6 Create a new password, then select Reset Password.

After you reset your password, you should go back to sign in again with your new password. It is suggested that you should update your password in Settings on your devices.

Method 3: Use Two-factor authentication

If you have set up two-factor authentication for your Apple ID, you can reset your password from any trusted iPhone, iPad, Pod touch, or Mac with a password or passcode that's enabled. 


On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

1 Make sure that your device has iOS 10 or later.

2 Navigate to Settings.

3 Tap [your name] > Password & Security > Change Password, then follow the instructions to update your password. For iOS 10.2 or earlier, tap iCloud > [your name] > Password & Security > Change Password, then follow the instructions.


On your Mac

1 Navigate to Apple menu > System Preferences, and click iCloud.

2 Choose Account Details.

3 Click Security > Reset Password. And input your password to unlock your Mac and then reset your Apple ID password.

I also forgot iCloud password once, and I managed to settle it down via the two-step verfication. The methods are flexible but you shall be able to solve your problem with one of them. And you shall be able to backup your iPhone to iCloud again.
